In My Own Words

As the founder and owner of Malakye.com I’ve accumulated 20 years of experiencing running a great company and brand in the best industries the world has to offer. Over the years my work has enabled me to learn quite a bit about creating and maintain a brand, developing a web-based business, caring for a team of people, seeking out help from intelligent people who are good at what they do, growing through business development and expansion, finding satisfaction in the purpose of what we do, and always thinking about how we can improve and continue to deliver results and evolve so we can continue operating into the future.

A few of the other things I’ve learned are ----- the most important decisions we make in business and life are the scariest to make and take the longest to prove right or wrong, good or bad. Having a very clear topline goal is a great way to keep myself going forward and if I can break it down into three simple elements that will keep me from getting lost in the details. You have to stand up for yourself and cannot expect or ask other people to do that for you. Believe in yourself and stay committed to it. Work hard, be honest, be straight up, and don’t ever, ever give up. Unless you’re really ready to.

I love what my work has taught me and how I’ve been able to bring it into my life to make me one person whether you encounter me personally or professionally. This is my life’s work - what do you think?

⭐Special 2 for 1 Industry Break-In Session Day | Thursday, February 5 with Julie Sears Harris and Marcella FredericksYou have to start somewhere. And most people don’t land their dream job right out of college or even early in their career. So how do you actually get in?Julie and I both entered this industry with zero experience and worked our way up. Between us, we’ve worked across sales, product, merchandising, and wholesale strategy at brands like adidas, JanSport, Vans, Levi’s, Converse, and Lacoste. We talk a lot about how sink or swim it felt early on.No roadmap. No context. No one explaining how things really worked. And definitely no one explaining career paths, role options, or how to interview. That’s why I created the Industry Break-In 1:1 session. It is designed for new grads, early professionals, or anyone curious about the fashion, sport, and lifestyle space who want to understand how to get their foot in the door, roles in the industry and/or what career paths are available. All the things that Julie and I wish we knew. And on Thursday, February 5th I am offering a special two for one 1:1 session.Julie and I will be together in Los Angeles and are opening up a one day Industry Break-In session.*Both of us on the call.*30+ years combined experience.*One focused conversation.*All your questions answeredYou can bring specific questions, or we can guide the conversation based on your background and goals. You’ll receive a short questionnaire ahead of time so we can understand what you’re looking for and make the most of the session.Topics may include (your call):-Role options and where your experience fits-Resume and LinkedIn feedback-Interview strategy and post-interview follow-up-Insight from two people who’ve been on the hiring side and in the room DM me or book via the links below. For your 60 min session book below.https://calendly.com/m-marcellainc/breakinsessionFor your 30 min session book belowhttps://calendly.com/m-marcellainc/new-meeting-1***Please make sure only to book on Thursday, February 5th or DM with questions.****This photo was taken at a sales meeting event. One of the perks of this industry are the experiences and the opportunity to buy matching hats. ;) I’ll take an A’s game over a pizza party any day 🙂 And no I do not wear this in LA!
