In My Own Words
Bicycle and Outdoor Industry Sales Expert
My name is Scott Michael Carlile, and I have spent over two decades working in the cycling and outdoor industry, focusing on specialty retail sales, marketing, education, merchandising, event promotion, and public relations. My passion for the outdoors was ignited by growing up in the Pacific Northwest, where I developed a love for an active and healthy lifestyle that has shaped my values.
Ever since I was a child, there seemed to be a bit of magic that occurs between those two wheels. Whether it was battling friends on BMX bikes as a kid, racing competitively in road, cyclocross, and mountain biking through my 20s and early 30s, or now spending time on long rides and bikepacking adventures, there is a perpetual stoke for those two wheels and I wish to continue sharing it in hopes of growing my community.
With a positive attitude and a perpetual smile on my face, I seek to learn and adapt with the changing times, much like one must do while navigating a challenging trail.
I warmly welcome you to join me for my next adventure!

Work Experience
Account Executive
Giant Bicycle2019 – 2023
Voted "Sales Rookie of the Year" in my first season with Giant Bicycles (Eligibility in first 3 years).
As an Account Executive for Giant Bicycles, USA, my role was to drive business revenue and profit in the Oregon, Northern California, and Alaska markets. With the combined efforts of our team, we doubled the brand’s revenue in my territory from approximately $3.8m in 2019 to close to $7m by 2022, by creating relationships that were trustworthy and diligent. My primary focus was on cultivating strong relationships with key retail partners and ensuring that our brands are well-represented in the market.
To achieve our business objectives, I was constantly evaluating our existing channels and seeking out new retailer opportunities where necessary. I strive to be a positive contributor, offering fresh ideas and insights from the field to help drive growth and success.
At Giant Bicycles, we firmly believed that cycling has the power to transform lives. Our mission was to make cycling more accessible, active, healthy, and fun for everyone.
Unfortunately left due to layoff, after a consolidation of territories due to downturn in bicycle industry post Covid boom.
West Coast Brand Specialist
KASK2018 – 2019
In my previous role as the West Coast Brand Specialist for KASK America, USA, I served as the primary contact for sales and marketing in the western half of the US, including Hawaii and Alaska. My responsibilities included all aspects of field marketing and sales within the bicycles industry.
My daily duties included contacting and meeting with bicycle shop managers, owners, and buyers to create sales orders based on forecasted demand, ensuring optimal sell-through at the retail level, and managing my travel logistics and budgeting. I traveled extensively throughout my territory, conducting retail store visits and hosting clinics for both retailers and riders. Additionally, I developed specific marketing efforts and events tailored to individual retailers and their regions and provided end-user support through face-to-face interaction, email, and social media communication.
My goal was to represent the brand in the best possible light and provide exceptional service to all retail partners.
USA Marketing & Brand Development
Specialized Bicycle Components2018 – 2018
As the Brand Developer (also known as a Field Marketing Representative) at Specialized Bicycles, my primary focus was on promoting the brand to riders and consumers through bicycle demos, marketing activations, and education on new products and services. I also played a key role in maintaining best practices and methods for implementation throughout a large network of independent retailers.
In addition to consumer-facing responsibilities, I managed a fleet of bicycles and products worth around a quarter of a million dollars in inventory. Working closely with territory sales managers, I collaborated to ensure that we positively impacted sales numbers within the region.
This role was critical for driving direct-to-consumer brand exposure and played a significant role in shaping how riders perceived the Specialized brand. My goal was always to promote the brand in a positive light and provide exceptional service to riders and consumers alike.

As a lead cycling coach at the Academy, I played an instrumental role in promoting grassroots youth and junior development across multiple cycling teams. Our aim was to help young cyclists have fun, achieve their goals, and maintain a healthy lifestyle on two wheels all year round. By fostering a supportive team environment, our riders were able to enjoy riding with their friends, explore new trails, travel to different competitions, and receive top-notch training from our experienced coaching staff. Together, we are helping to cultivate the next generation of talented cyclists.
