Big Bear Mountain Resort - IT Director
Big Bear City, CAIn My Own Words
“Experience is one thing you can't get for nothing.” ― Oscar Wilde
I have spent the last 40 years seeing business from just about every end, corporate, entrepreneurial, private, government, for-profit, non-profit, executive, laborer, owner and employee. I am a strong idea person who gets the "big picture" but has the experience and administrative ability to put those ideas to action and create "outcomes." I am a very fast learner and can piece things together through what I know and what I have experienced with a strong business acumen. I like challenges and a fast paced environment where I am always stretched to find resolution. I enjoy helping organizations and individuals find success and believe I make a strong partner in the right environment.
Work Experience
Director
Big Bear Mountain Resort2021 – Present
Oversight of all technologies involved in running the BBMR Ski Resort, from traditional networking, servers, workstations, WAN, wireless point to point, firewall, peripheral, POS, EMV, Corporate and Public Wi-Fi, Audio Visual, telecommunications, fiber and copper cabling, SaaS, IaaS, Azure, AWS, etc. Also more non-traditional like radio communications, weather observation, industrial technologies for snow making, environmental monitoring, and security. Including gate technologies, RFID, GPS/LiDAR mapping, engine management/diagnostics, Public Webcam, irrigation technologies, and more. The companies we rely on most are Cisco, Microsoft, VMWare, Nutanix, Palo Alto, Rubrik, Velo Cloud, Microsoft, Ubiquiti/Unifi, Trango, Verkada, Mikrotik, Axis, and others. We manage over 800 workstations (Backoffice, POS, mobile, tablet), 2 data centers with 111 servers, 157 AP's, vast network that spans 3 resorts, Hybrid Active Directory locally and in Azure, SDWAN, amongst many other technologies. The benefit of being in an environment like this is we literally touch every type of tech available in the many outlets, options, and needs a large resort has to conduct our business. I also oversee many large and small projects, most recently was a purchase of a local resort that we did a "rip and replace" of its entire network, fiber plant, server room which was a 2 million dollar project.
