In My Own Words
My name is Mason Plum and I am a Graphic Designer and illustrator based in Southern California. I was raised in Orange County California and on skateboarding and surf culture. As a child I would draw on any scrap of paper that was handed to me or any book that I was required to read. I realized that I had a talent for drawing and thinking creatively and decided to pursue graphic design at Point Loma Nazarene University. My work has been heavily influenced by my upbringing and incorporates inspiration from artists I have encountered in both surf and skate culture. Through my art and design I try to reflect the joy I find in my obsessions. I now have a bachelors in graphic design and I hope to use my experience, education, and passion to practice illustration, design, and photography as my career.

MCPlum Designs2023 – Present
• Manage efficient timelines to meet with clients’ project deliverables and expectations along with involving a collaborative process for revisions or edits. • Use problem solving and organizational skills to assist clients ideas and expectations into tangible products. • Developing detailed aesthetics and attributes to improve consistency within clients branding and image. • Free lance graphic designs contracted by Surfrider Foundation, Sun Room band, OPB Productions, Sur Coffee, Southland Coffee, CSU Long Beach Surf Club, and other inspiring projects
Jr Graphic Designer and Pre Press Operator
Arnett Designs2024 – 2025
• Collaborate with the design team to create and refine graphics for event credentials such as laminates, wristbands, and satin passes, ensuring brand consistency and production readiness. • Prepare and optimize artwork for print production, including imposition and variable data setup, using industry-standard pre-press and imposition software. • Operate and maintain high-volume digital printers, adjusting color profiles, print settings, and hardware components to ensure peak output quality and minimize downtime. • Interface directly with clients and sales representatives to proof and finalize artwork, balancing creative vision with production constraints. • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, particularly during high-demand festival and event seasons. • Contribute to the end-to-end production process for secure, custom-branded credentials, with a focus on accuracy, quality, and client satisfaction.

• Collaborated with a team of professional creatives to illustrate engaging YouTube thumbnails. • Spearheaded a skateboard deck project sketching, designing, and altering to cater to “Danny Trejo’s Do a Kickflip” video series. • Utilized Instagram stories and posts to curate content to share and reach target audience. • Assisted in creating a promotional poster to handout at the Battle at the Berrics 12th series.

Recently I’ve been exploring Screen Printing as a new creative skill. I’ve found it’s a very extensive process that takes a lot of trial and error as well as time. However, the results are extremely rewarding. There’s truly nothing like making some tangible art with your own hands that you can also wear to showcase your own design.
