Senior Product Development Manager

Engineering & Production

• Manage Product Development team working on Private Label and Branded programs. Categories developed and produced are Men’s Swim, Woven Tops & Bottoms (Flannels / Printed Poplins / Twills), Polar Fleece, Knit Jersey Tops, Denim Pants, and Fleece Joggers.
• Oversee cost negotiations with vendors including cost engineering to meet price and margin goals.
• Supervise and establish Time and Action for samples and bulk production based on customers
requirements.
• Work with Sales Department to strategize plan of action on sourcing and development for new
styles to present to their accounts. Goal is to provide Sales best product while meeting target costs
and delivery.
• Lead R&D sourcing to find new innovate fabrics, washes, trims and techniques while being mindful
of cost due to PL programs.
• Strong ability to work cross functionally between Sales, Design, Merchandising and Production to
execute customers specifications, procedures, costs, and calendars.
• Establish strong vendor relationships to solidify supply chain matrices.
• Travel several times a year to China to work with mills in developing new fabrications and
approving fabrics at bulk to expedite production timelines.

• Managed Design, Product Development, and T echnical Design T eams through concept, design, and sampling.
• Analyze costs and engineer products to meet margin goals while bringing innovation to the product.
    
• Create and maintained calendars throughout design and development season to meet critical deadlines.
• Developed strategies in committing to fabrics during sampling stage to avoid MOQ issues when bulk orders are placed.
• Lead Development Team in the sourcing and development for new fabrics, applications, and trims.
• Responsible for sourcing and building vendor base for all non-technical styles (Base Layers, Tech
Fleece, Gloves, Printable Tees / Fleece and Accessories)
• Project managed collaboration collections with brands such as 47 Brand, Smith Optics, and
Specialized Bikes. Work closely with their teams in achieving a collection that represented both
brands overall design aesthetic and intent.
• Work with Gore-Tex brand on building a program to incorporate using their exclusive fabrics into
the seasonal line.
• Developed interface with Team Riders and Resort Employees to get their feedback on the form,
function, and durability of the product. Would evaluate valuable feedback which would go back into the development of the styles.

Director of Product

• Develop and execute overall global Sourcing and Product Development strategy to ensure optimal allocation among vendors that supports seasonal product needs. Examine, review and qualify all potential new suppliers.
• Research, develop, and source new fabrications for all style categories every season
• Manage the development and production of cut / sew and accessory categories. Determine spec,
grade, construction, fit intent and design aesthetic. Categories managed include denim, woven
tops and bottoms, knit tops and bottoms, board short, fleece, hats, and leather accessories.
• Identify potential production, quality, costing and design issues and make appropriate
recommendations.
• Set wholesale and retail costs for all categories and styles.
• Negotiate costs with suppliers to achieve margin goals and find solutions when goal is not met.
• Set and manage all development, sampling, and production calendars.
• Follow up and maintain Work in Progress report for all Samples and Production.
• Standardize and maintain the measurement spec and block for all denim and bottom fits.
• Handle trim development for samples and production. Work closely with trim supplier to negotiate
costs and lead-times.
• Follow through the complete pre-production process including artwork, fabrics, trims and PPS/TOP
sample approval process.
• Work with design to offer suggestions and insight on fabric, print and style developments that fit
within required needs and margin targets.


Senior Sourcing / Development / Production Manager

Manage Action Sports and Private Label Brands sourcing, development, production for sportswear programs.
Work closely w/ overseas vendors to assure all developments, samples, and production meet on time delivery dates.
Advise suggestions to accounts on how to meet their target costs and negotiate with suppliers in order to meet margin requirements.
Issue and track all production PO's.

Merchandiser for Branded and Private Label Accounts

• Sourcing, development, and production delivery of Men’s and Juniors Sportswear.
• Work with design and merchandising to offer suggestions and insight on fabric, print and style
developments that fit within required needs and margin targets.
• Negotiate with factory to achieve costs in order to meet target wholesale and gross margin targets.
Provide alternatives when relevant.
• Establish and monitor time/action schedules to hit target calendar dates ensuring on time delivery
for all developments, samples and bulk production.
• Issue PO’s and track all Samples and Production through the Full Circle PDM system.
• Meet with design to review and make all development/sample comments. Correspond with vendors
assuring all comments are well understood and reflected to next samples and bulk production.
• Attend fit sessions and work with technical designers for fit comments.


Senior Sourcing Manager- Woven Category- O’Neill Mens & Juniors, Rusty Men’s & Juniors, and Lost Brands

• Work with design and merchandise manager in the development of custom cut and sew fleece and knits styles for all six Sole Technology brands.
• Review all development including fabric, lab dips, strike offs, and samples. Provide detailed
comments and approvals directly to vendors and maintain follow up to production.
• Negotiate with vendors to achieve best cost. Work with Merchandise Manager to provide insight for
designing styles that will hit our target cost.
• Track styles, ensure development is received and commented on promptly. Keep vendors on
schedule for on time delivery of development and samples.
• Work closely with design and vendors to provide new fabric, wash, print, and custom
embellishment developments. Research and discuss market trends with design.
• Issue Purchase Orders using the Axapta system to vendors for all development and samples.


Senior Product Developer- Apparel: Fleece / Knits Category

• Responsible for the development and production of custom fleece garments for a China based manufacturer.
• Involved with all aspects of manufacturing from design, development, tracking, costing, production, and logistics.
• Worked directly with designers and merchandisers from many different companies to provide design and development services.
• Spent time in China factory developing styles and gaining further knowledge of overseas development, costing and production.


Custom Product Merchandise Manager
