Lead team building and educational private paddle tours for corporate, community and educational partners.

Develop educational curriculum with emphasis on estuarine habitat curriculum to meet the California State Educational Standards for AP Environmental High School Science; Outrigger and Year Long Watershed Program educating at-risk students from underserved communities particularly title one high schools within the Newport Bay Watershed. This programs integrates: Discovery (California Coastal Cleanup Day); Environmental Habitats (outrigger program); Analysis (Marine Biology at the Back Bay Science Center) – water quality testing utilizing biotic, abiotic, marine, avian and flora stations; Public Presentations (Open house student presentations of PSA projects on the impact of individuals’ actions within the watershed hosted at the Peter and Mary Muth Interpretive Center). Conduct teacher workshops in compliance with grant specifications to ensure educational programs are sufficiently delivered and funded. Oversee all aspects of annual event coordination including volunteer placement, exhibitors, vendors, performers, sponsors, advertising and promotions. Earth Day events (personally raising attendance from 1000-1200 attendees in 2009-11 to 3000 attendees in 2012) Estuary Awareness Day (500- 800 attendees) California Coastal Clean Up Day (800-1200 attendees) Responsible for quarterly and weekend scheduling and billing for kayak, outreach and water safety tours. Organize all corporate/scholastic/volunteer-based beach and on water (kayak) clean up events.

Increased High School Outrigger Tours by 400% in first year, increasing by 10% for the following three years. Created, developed and delivered to 340+ students The Year Long Watershed Project for Advanced Placement Environmental Studies Students. Increased Weekend Kayak Tours by 75% Responsible for program creation, implementation, staffing, development & delivery. Curriculum development and delivery. Volunteer Training (associate & twelve week), mentoring, staffing placement and management. Event planning and logistics, procurement, staffing, registration, permitting and delivery for Annual Earth Day, California Coastal Clean up, Estuary Awareness Day.

Serve as point person for all collaborative partnerships/sponsorships, events, marketing, advertisement, outreach delivery and procurement of donations including but not limited to: Newport Aquatic Center, Newport Sea Base, Rotary International (N.B.), REI, The Fairmont Hotel, Marriott Bay View Hotel, Hyatt Regency Newport Beach, All Green Electronic Waste, CH2MHILL Global Environmental Consultants, Pimco Global Investment Firm, DPR Construction, Orange County Concierge Association, Inside the Outdoors (Orange County Department of Education), The Newport Beach Film Festival, Volcom and Quiksilver Serve as liaison to all Bay management agencies (i.e., Department of Fish and Game, OC Parks, the City of Newport Beach and California Coastal Commission).

Increased recruitment by 60% and retention 20%. Recruit and train Associate Naturalists, creating and delivering PowerPoint presentations and materials as well as procurement and scheduling subject matter expert speakers for Naturalist training course. Recruit experienced Naturalists (i.e., volunteers) to integrate and train new associates via mentoring program. Train and place volunteers for outreach events including educational weekend kayak tours, NBC Friends Tours (six per year; attended by 150 to 200 persons) and Weekend Naturalist Walk Tours (four per month).

Solely responsible for all aspects of organization’s daily operations, administration and program development including education, curriculum development, Naturalist training, volunteer recruitment/training/placement, community outreach, event logistical coordination, tour management, and public inquiries. Responsible for fundraising efforts including discovery, delivery and procurement of grants to fund salaries and educational programs.

Developed programs aimed at providing students in underserved urban settings with a virtual marine and intertidal classroom experience. Facilitated all aspects (including curriculum development) of PORTS (Parks Online Resources for Teachers and Students) educational program. Prepared and delivered interactive classes on marine habitat, tide pool education and conservation. Served as park liaison to the general public and educated park visitors on native plant life and marine habitats. Supervised 40+ youth volunteers during community outreach event for Earth Day.

Collaborated with Environmental Director to compile and assimilate data for a cost benefit analysis in support of the Save Trestles Campaign. Conducted field investigation to determine the economic valuation of Trestles State Beach and its related impact on the City of San Clemente.

Developed and implemented water quality testing program to calculate nitrate, nitrite and dissolved oxygen levels within Upper Newport Back Bay wetlands. Trained and educated youth groups on watershed activities, marine habitat, wetland filtration as well as the distinction of bird species. Led volunteers in the removal of non-native plant species and re-introduction of native plants. Supervised 500+ youth volunteers during community outreach event for Ocean Day.
