Hello! I have spent 15 years in Ireland and the UK working in corporate and broadcast documentary film and online content, and have recently returned to the USA this year. My wealth of experience throughout all TV and film production phases as a camera operator, director, editor and coordinator has equipped me well to perform in supervisory and management positions in other industries in which I have experience. 

I bring my skills as a producer effectively and comfortably liaising with non-industry contributors as well as industry insiders as the foundation on which I perform duties in retail supervisory positions, as well as customer service and sales assistance. 

With 15 years operating in self-employment I am deeply self-motivated, resourceful, quick to learn, I take great care in attention to detail and strive to produce the very best results I can, and no matter what industry I work in I very much enjoy working with and for others who love what they do.

I work aboard the museum’s diesel-electric submarine, the USS Blueback, giving informational tours to the public and explaining the science behind submarine vessels to adults and children using hands-on simulations and visual aids. Work also included overnight educational camps on board the USS Blueback with overnight educational groups. 
I worked for OMSI on the USS Blueback as a daily tour guide from June 1998 to April 2001, as well.

I have spent an extremely enjoyable summer reacquainting myself with Portland and its people as a Bike Tour Guide, leading groups of up to 10 people through tours of the city, tours to food establishments and tours to local breweries. It is my foremost duty to look after the safety of the group, and then to deliver interesting, entertaining and accurate information to the group over the course of several hours while biking to various locations around the city. I also assist in the shop in Old Town with renting bikes and equipment to visitors, and ensuring that they are properly fitted to mechanically sound equipment during their visit. I also assist in minor mechanical repairs in our full-service repair shop. I help manage our reservation system and maintenance of our bike inventory, assist in placing orders for merchandise sold in the shop, perform all cashiering functions including opening and closing tills, carry out all opening and closing duties for the shop and I am a key holder.

Bicycle Tour Guide & Shop Assistant

In the Action Sports department I specialise in enthusiastically assisting customers with buying bikes and cycling accessories, boats, car racks and winter equipment. I draw on my own personal experience with outdoor and cycling gear, as well as my considerable professional experience working in this industry as both a retail assistant and supervisor, and guide and teacher, to connect with my customers and help make recommendations about the best equipment to suit their needs. As REI staff, I am part of a team who are proud of their work and eager to share their knowledge with customers. I use all the information systems available to REI employees to identify products and product information, find inventory, search customer  and member information, process equipment sales and ring up customer purchases.

Freelance TV and Film Producer

At Podium 4 Sport in Belfast, Northern Ireland, I provided customers, fellow employees and our company buyer with my knowledge and interest in outdoor and trail running clothing and equipment, and worked across both my own Outdoor department and the bike shop in their multi-department sporting goods superstore. I kept myself up to date with product knowledge in fast and light camping and trekking, trail running, cycling and ultra endurance sports, and had input on selecting seasonal lines of merchandise for the Outdoor section of the shop. I helped forge partnerships and sponsorships of race series’ with local mountain running associations and athletic clubs, and attended sponsored sporting events. I also familiarised myself with bike brands Merida and Trek, and helped sell new bikes under the UK-wide “Cycle to Work” subsidised scheme. I performed shop supervisory duties within my weekly schedule, responsible for opening and closing, making managerial decisions, and managing the daily takings and safe deposits.

As sales staff at Cotswold Outdoor in Belfast I was endeavoured to have a good practical experience of the gear and clothing I sold so that I was able to communicate clearly with customers and make gear recommendations to them based on their specific needs. I attend weekly training on technical knowledge of products or their components, or specific pieces of kit to ensure my product knowledge was always up to date. I was also required to help present the shop in a welcoming and appealing manner to customers, and present myself as an ambassador of Cotswold’s excellent customer service experience. I was adept at all roles within the shop; checking in deliveries, stock taking, daily cashing out and preparing deposits, internal merchandise transfers, online purchases, and ordering special items.

Retail Assistant

At Smart Tech AV in Portland, OR, I was part of a team of dedicated folks who provided sound, projection and lighting equipment, and expert management of these systems, at live events and conferences in Portland, as well as around the USA. It was a physically demanding job, requiring working long, unsociable hours and often heavy lifting. I excelled as an AV tech in my ability to communicate with our clients and users, and work with them through every step of their gigs and presentations to make sure we provided the very best service. I was concurrently a full time university student.

While attending Portland State University full time, I worked within the Graduate Multimedia computer Lab in the IDSC, providing functional support and tutorial help. We provided a full compliment of Mac and PC platforms where we managed content on network servers attached to the lab, hands-on help with photo editing, video editing, high quality and large-scale printing facilities, and presentation software.

I was part of a vibrant team of folks working in the old Brew Pub at Bridgeport Brewery in NW Portland, OR. It was an enjoyable and energetic time in one of Portland’s first craft breweries. I took part in daily food preparation, hand-tossed pizza chef, bar tending, tap and keg room maintenance and serving at special events.

At Mt. Bachelor Ski & Summer Resort in Bend, OR, I was a Snowboard Professional Instructor in the winter seasons, and I was an ambassador for Burton Snowboards. I attained a Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) Snowboard level 2. I was required to lead group classes and private lessons for adults and children, attend dry land training and on-hill skills clinics, assist Ski Patrol when required and help to ensure the safety and security of all visitors to the resort. In the spring, summer and autumn seasons I worked in additional roles in other departments, including: Chair Lift Operator for spring season skiing and  summer sightseers on Sunrise and Summit chairs; Operations Maintenance assisting Lift Maintenance crews and providing manual labour on improvement projects; sign making in the Graphics Department.
