Barbacoa Grill
Server & Trainer | 05/2017 - 08/2018
Barbacoa Grill consistently has the highest sales (liquor and food) and highest ratings of any restaurant in the state of Idaho and as such, their staff must always be top notch. From my experience at such a prestigious company, I learned how to provide excellent service, work in a fast-pace and often stressful environment, multi-task, have extreme time management skills, work as a team, and have attention to every minute detail. After some time, I took on the role of training new hires to the high company standards set by decades of excellent service
Professionally as well, I became an competent salesperson, skilled communicator, and became a walking embodiment of the Barbacoa brand - lessons that will be invaluable in my career as a public relations professional.
Create Common Good
Community Engagement Intern | 01/2018 - 07/2018
As the Community Engagement intern at CCG, I assist the Director of Development & Community Relations with her duties. I manage all social media platforms, conceptualize, write and send press releases, create monthly newsletters, manage the internal brand guidelines, help conduct tours and promote CCG on a-face-to-face basis and come up with new and engaging ways to connect with the Boise community. As part of my job of increasing CCG's presence and brand awareness within the community, I come up with new events and strategic communication to engage the Boise community in the form of planning, executing and evaluating events. Included in this is our largest event of the year, our annual "Feed Your Soul" outdoor concert event.
United Way of Treasure Valley
PR & Marketing Intern | 05/2017 - 08/2017
As a public relations intern at the United Way of Treasure Valley, I gained many valuable skills and experiences. The majority of the work that I performed involved creating promotional materials following United Way Worldwide's strict corporate branding. As I started my internship, United Way had just gone through a complete corporate rebranding which I assisted in adopting at our local branch. My other duties included gathering information for and writing press releases, editing online content, event preparation and execution, and running their social media accounts.
United Way of Treasure Valley
Marketing & Communication - Loaned Executive | 08/2001 - 11/2001
Following my internship with UWTV, they offered me a part-time position as a paid employee throughout the campaign season right before the holidays. In this position I was able to build on the skills I gained as an intern and use them to take a more hands-on role in their marketing. I continued writing press releases but dealt more with the process of finding the story as well. I collaborated more with directors to come up with concepts for different programs and the promotional materials, and participated in training programs for community business partners as well as assisting with internal communication.
