In my own words
— JulianaCurrently a 2017, Virginia Tech, 5th year, student.
Background is focused on mechanical engineering with a minor in biomedical engineering where I had the opportunity to study biomimicry & lead my senior design capstone project; creating an adjustable bike seat. My internships and co-ops have given me the knowledge of various power plants (renewable verse non-renewable) and operations across the world. My technical background with my work experience pushes me towards my desire to continue to design more efficient and sustainable outdoor gear and wear. Extremely passionate about the outdoors and all that gets the next person moving.
Trajectory
Jun 2016 — Aug 2016
Renewable Energy Leadership Program Intern · General Electric
I ran power curve investigations for wind turbines that were going to be sold to customers in the United States. I worked on an international team in order to budget for the next year's goals and allocated money in the budget to the sections of the company that required upgrades.
Aug 2015 — Dec 2015
Mechanical Engineer Early Identification Co-Op · General Electric
I worked in the bucket repair sector of the gas turbine plant in Greenville, SC. I collarborated with cross-functional teams in order to lower consumable spending, update the MetLab for powder-coat testing on buckets, and create the entire process through the shop for repairing the newest version of buckets.
May 2015 — Aug 2015
Adventure Youth Counselor · Tumbling River Ranch
I worked on a dude ranch out in Grant, Colorado. I led outings in the Rocky Mountains for up to 10 children between the ages of 4 and 12 weekly. On top of that, I performed the best customer service for all guests on the ranch in order to ensure a fun and upbeat vacation.
