Julian Groom background involvement within the Action Sports Industry is Brand Consultancy. Over 25 years experience in Australia and around the Globe and during this period of time I have managed various roles on behalf of small business clients - Brand Management, Retail Management, Sales / Marketing, Business Administration / Financial Advice and Manufacturing. It has been quite a journey as I started my employment in this industry after finishing competing on the Australasian Pro / Am Surf Tour during the late 1980's. The 1980's was a period when Australian surfers lived hard, surfed hard and played hard. My other pursuit as an athlete was being a product test pilot, and I have also experienced the pain of being involved in accident's within the role of research and development on behalf of European action sports companies. Having spent time in the past with hospital rehabilitation in Switzerland recovering from skate boarding and snowboarding accidents. So from some of these experiences, I have paid my dues and it has led to a step by step career pathway to employment in the Action Sports Industry. The new Planet Blue Action Sports Foundation which is a partner of Planet Blue Action Sports Consultancy kicked off in Indonesia during January 2014. Our new Indonesian director has employed 10 people to work and maintain the project, as we are concentrating on rebuilding coastal areas that were devastated by the past Tsunami of 2006. The project consists of tree plantation in the coastal region of West Java in and around the beach areas of Batu Hui.

The Freeline adventure surf tour company has been operating adventure tours in the region of Indonesia for over 15 years to Mentawai Islands, Sumatra, Java, Bali, Lombok, Sumbawa, Sumba and Timor.

Involvement with Rusty Australia surfboard directors Mick Button and Rob Allen in organising new surfboard retail store accounts in Bali - Indonesia. This move assisted in laying the foundations for the Rusty brand to grow in Indonesia and throughout Australasia region.

Employed in other role as Surfboard Repairer and Glassing Contractor on behalf of Rusty and serviced it's surf, skate and snow concept store The Boarding House which was located in Osborne Park in Perth, Western Australia and repaired damaged customer, team surfboards and stock boards.

Developed a youth based surf team for Waves Surfwear which included Western Australian pro - junior surfers Mark Brandis, Steve Knowler and Misty Ellis.
