I’m the Founder/ Creative Director at Rhys Atelier, I’m a multi-talented, self-directed creative professional with 5 years of design experience, specializing in textile and handbag design with a design focus on sustainability. I’m a self-starter, forever student and care deeply about people and our planet. I take pride in locally and ethically made products, with great concern for the hands that make them. 

I’m a freelance textile designer for clothing, upholstery, and interiors. I compose innovative ideas combining trends with timeless design in cohesive colorways. I’m intuitive; I have a sixth sense when it comes to design, and a strong knowledge of construction, use of color, and marrying styles and textures.

Outdoors surrounded by mountain peaks and nature is where I find clarity. Heavy metal music, architecture, and street art invoke my creativity. When I’m not designing you can find me summiting mountains, headbanging, and dancing to anything with a beat. My favorite cocktail is fear accompanied by exhilaration. Also, everything in life is done best with a cup of coffee.

*	Creates one-of-a-kind handbags from repurposed leather, canvas, hardware, deconstructing items, using elements out of their context, generating original ideas and concepts, working with preexisting style lines and elements within the item.
*	Conceptualize, sketch, pattern and execute handbags from prototypes to final product for contemporary market. 
*	Studies textiles in order to maximize use of design elements, stretching key details across multiple bags for cohesive collections.
*	Analyze trends for color, prints, graphics, surface texture and style to create on trend designs in alignment with brand and style.
*	Patterns 3D designs, analyzing the functionality of the product, materials and their characteristics and limitations. 


*	Creates repeat pattern designs for home furnishings, wovens and knits using a variety of mediums such as pencil, ink, paint and digital rendering to create an array of dynamic designs. 
*	Administers products from first stage sample to final fruition by foreseeing potential issues and creating a cohesive resolution. 
*	Proficient in creating plaids, classic prints, graphic placement art, color separating and formulating color palettes. 
*	Understanding of color composition and theory with a quick, learned eye for color and materials
*	Skilled in creating graphic placement art, using design parameters, and color separation for screen printing.


Textile Designer


*	Research and deliver color, design, market, and lifestyle trends that influence and impact the product
*	Learned fundamental skills to interpret the direction of the market in color, prints, textiles, and silhouettes
*	Drive overall product quality to higher levels through research, design, and color execution
*	Assisted in producing tech packs, ensuring product quality and fit throughout sampling process. Assisted in fittings, suggesting design corrections and alterations, followed up with the design and implementation of technical design corrections.  
*	Learned how to design for the brand’s identity, designing with a concept theme that is consistent with market trends and demands, without compromising the technical functionality, delivering premium performance in the product. 
*	Collaborated with cross-functional teams to create a merchandisable line from concept to commercialization
*	Successfully transitioned between multiple projects, shifting between sales, retail merchandising, product development and events while managing deadlines.


Technical Designer/ Brand Ambassador

*  Assisted designer on dress designs and lavish beading design placement, translated verbal concepts and drapes into sketches. 
*  Managed the design team’s tasks, time management, and responsibilities to ensure deadlines are met.
*  Designed textile prints and applique arrangements in Photoshop and technical drawings and specs in Illustrator for manufacturers.

*  Guided clients in selecting a new style that accentuates their assets, while complimenting their profession.
*  Successfully worked within each client’s budget, executing the desired look with customized services, providing style advice.
