Safe Passage, a Guatemalan NGO, provides education for children whose parents work in the local garbage dump Collaborated with and spoke Spanish with local staff, created unique lesson plans each day, and instructed classes K-8, each which required a custom curriculum due to English level Helped cultivate enthusiasm for learning among these resilient students despite facing challenging living conditions Engaged students with energy and passion while making many meaningful connections through Spanish and English

Volunteered on farms for four months in Costa Rica and Panama in a variety of agricultural needs including permaculture, coffee, and beef Lived with native families and conversed with local workers in Spanish, which provided authentic insight into local culture and grew my global perspective Completed daily labor, five days a week, including planting native and invasive species, fermenting cacao beans, harvesting cacao and coffee, repairing electric fences, and husbandry for chickens and cattle
