In my own words
— AaronI create impactful audience experiences for leading outdoor, lifestyle, and travel brands through award-winning journalism, content strategy, creative direction, and photo/video production.
With more than two decades of experience in print and digital media, editorial leadership, and multichannel storytelling, I partner with top media companies, agencies, and global brands to craft campaigns that inspire, inform, and convert.
As a hands-on, empathetic leader, I build and mentor creative teams that thrive on collaboration, innovation, and delivering best-in-class work. I bring a rare combination of editorial insight, digital fluency, and creative direction to every project — developed through years of experience as a magazine editor, B2B trade journalist, content strategist, and fine art photographer.
I currently write columns for Freeskier and Elevation Outdoors, contribute regularly to Gear Junkie and other top publications, and serve on the Hearst Magazines Expert Gear Team. I’m also the co-owner of PaddlingLife.com. Previously, I served as Senior Editor at NEST Magazine and Creative Director at Formidable Media, leading content strategy and brand storytelling across platforms.
My areas of expertise include editorial direction, creative concepting, SEO-driven content, e-commerce and affiliate strategy, brand voice development, and campaign copywriting — all supported by an MFA in Documentary Photography from SCAD.
After three decades in Colorado’s mountain towns, I now live in Colorado Springs, where I continue to explore the outdoors with my wife and two daughters — and bring that spirit of adventure into every story I tell.
Summary: Award-winning editor, journalist, and creative leader specializing in outdoor media, brand storytelling, and multichannel content strategy — with a proven track record of guiding teams and building campaigns that connect, perform, and endure.
